Mario Savio

Student-activists of the FSM such as Mario Savio were brave enough to take a stand in the middle of Sproul Plaza and advocate for the rights of free speech. These moments from over 40 years ago is what allows modern students to advocate their beliefs on Sproul today. The story of Sproul during the FSM is a place where students could be brave and defy authoritarian control, allowing them to make political changes during the sixties, and giving the foundation for students to continue making changes for decades to come.
